Ten Things I Want to Tell Teenage Girls

I found this on someones facebook and I loved it! It comes from http://kateelizabethconner.com/ten-things-i-want-to-tell-teenage-girls/  . Awesome article, just gonna post it on here, visit this girls blog!

1. If you choose to to wear shirts that show off your boobs, you will attract boys. To be more specific, you will attract the kind of boys that like to look down girls’ shirts.  If you want to date a guy who likes to look at other girls’ boobs and chase skirts, then great job; keep it up.  If you don’t want to date a guy who ogles at the breasts of other women, then maybe you should stop offering your own breasts up for the ogling.  All attention is not equal.  You think you want attention, but you don’t.  You want respect.  All attention is not equal.

2. Don’t go to the tanning bed.  You’ll thank me when you go to your high school reunion and you look like you’ve been airbrushed and then photoshopped compared to the tanning bed train wrecks formerly known as classmates – well, at least next to the ones that haven’t died from skin cancer.

3.  When you talk about your friends “anonymously” on Facebook, we  know exactly who you’re talking about.  People are smarter than you think they are.  Stop posting passive-aggressive statuses about the myriad of ways your friends disappoint you.

4. Newsflash: the number of times you say “I hate drama” is a pretty good indicator of how much you love drama.  Non-dramatic people don’t feel the need to discuss all the drama they didn’t start and aren’t involved in.

5.  “Follow your heart” is probably the worst advice ever.

6. Never let a man make you feel weak or inferior because you are an emotional being.  Emotion is good; it is nothing to be ashamed of.  Emotion makes us better – so long as it remains in it’s proper place: subject to truth and reason.

7.  Smoking is not cool.

8.  Stop saying things like, “I don’t care what anyone thinks about me.”  First of all, that’s not true.  And second of all, if it is true, you need a perspective shift.  Your reputation matters – greatly.  You should care what people think of you.

9. Don’t play coy or stupid or helpless to get attention.  Don’t pretend something is too heavy so that a boy will carry it for you.  Don’t play dumb to stroke someone’s ego.  Don’t bat your eyelashes in exchange for attention and expect to be taken seriously, ever.  You can’t have it both ways.  Either you show the world that you have a brain and passions and skills, or you don’t.  There are no damsels in distress managing corporations, running countries, or managing households.  The minute you start batting eyelashes, eyelashes is all you’ve got.

10.  You are beautiful.  You are enough.  The world we live in is twisted and broken and for your entire life you will be subjected to all kinds of lies that tell you that you are not enough.  You are not thin enough.  You are not tan enough.  You are not smooth, soft, shiny, firm, tight, fit, silky, blonde, hairless enough.  Your teeth are not white enough.  Your legs are not long enough.  Your clothes are not stylish enough.  You are not educated enough.  You don’t have enough experience.  You are not creative enough.

There is a beauty industry, a fashion industry, a television industry, (and most unfortunately) a pornography industry: and all of these have unique ways of communicating to bright young women: you are not beautiful, sexy, smart or valuable enough.

You must have the clarity and common sense to know that none of that is true. None of it.

You were created for a purpose, exactly so.  You have innate value.  You are loved more than you could ever comprehend; it is mind-boggling how much you are adored.  There has never been, and there will never be another you.  Therefore, you have unique thoughts to offer the world.  They are only yours, and we all lose out if you are too fearful to share them.

You are beautiful.  You are valuable.  You are enough.

*Enjoy the little things.

*I'm going to make everything around me beautiful - that will be my life. -Elise de Wolfe

*There is no "wrong" in life. Nothing is a mistake, everything is an experience. -Mona Scott Young

*A well-tailored suit is to women, what lingerie is to men.

*Yeah I'm hurting, but on goes the mascara and lipgloss. that's right. i'll be the prettiest damn wreck you've ever seen

*Your past is just a story. And once you realize this it has no power over you. - Chuck Palahniuk

*The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think, or say, or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company, a church.. a home. The remarkable thing is that we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have; and that is our attitude... I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me, and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our attitude. -Charles R. Swindoll

*She left pieces of her life behind her everywhere she went. It's easier to feel the sunlight without them, she said.

*All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them. -Walt Disney

*I vow to help you love life, to always hold you with tenderness and to have the patience that love demands, to speak when words are needed and to share the silence when they are not and to live within the warmth of your heart and always call it home. - The Vow

*Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything.

*I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point, "If this isn't nice, I don't know what is." -Kurt Vonnegut

*You have to be willing to get happy about nothing. -Andy Warhol

*And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was greater than the risk it took to bloom.

*Have a heart that never hardens, and a temper that never tires, and a touch that never hurts. -Charles Dickens

*The greatest relationships are the ones you NEVER expected to be in. The ones that swept you off your feet and challenged every view you've ever had .

*Even in the darkest night will end and the sun will rise.

*I am still determined to be cheerful and to be happy in whatever situation I may be, for I have also learnt from experience that the greater part of our happiness or misery depends upon our dispositions and not upon our circumstances. -Martha Washington.

*There's a reason I said I'd be happy alone. It wasn't cause I thought I'd be happy alone. It was because if I thought I loved someone and then it fell apart, I might not make it. It's easier to be alone, because what if you learn that you need love and you don't have it? What if you like it and lean on it? What if you shape your life around it and then it falls apart? Can you even survive that kind of pain? Losing love is like organ damage. It's like dying. The only difference is death ends. This? It could go on forever. -Grey's Anatomy

*Have you ever been in love? Horrible isn't it? It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest and it opens up your heart and it means that someone can get inside you and mess you up. You build up all these defenses, you build up a whole suit of armor, so that nothing can hurt you, then one stupid person, wanders into your stupid life.. You give them a piece of you. They didn't ask for it. They did something dumb one day, like kiss you or smile at you, and then your life isn't your own anymore. Love takes hostages. It gets inside you. It eats you out and leaves you crying in the darkness, so a simple phrase like 'maybe we should just be friends' turns into a glass splinter working its way into your heart. It hurts. Not just in the imagination. Not just in the mind. It's a soul-hurt, a real gets-inside-you-and-rips-you-apart pain. I hate love. -Neil Gaiman

* Sometimes all you have to do is forget what you feel, and remember what you deserve.

* Confidence, not cockiness. Knowing who you are is confidence. Cockiness is knowing who you are and pushing it down everyone's throat. -Mila Kunis

* If you're always racing to the next moment what happens to the one you're in? Enjoy the ride.

* Don't choose the one who is beautiful to the world. But rather, choose the one who makes your world beautiful.

*I often wonder if more girls were willing to be ladies, more guys would feel challenged to be gentleman.

*The world bursts at the seams with people ready to tell you you're not good enough. On occasion some may be correct. But do not do their work for them. *Never take someone's feelings for granted because you never know how much courage that they took to show it to you.

* She's the girl that has a few best friends & doesn't need anyone, the girl that laughs hardest at her own jokes. The girl that expects way too much. Doesn't care what anyone thinks, and is nice to everyone. She's the girl that will hang up on you, then call you right back and say sorry. The kinda girl that will put all her trust in you until you give her a reason not to. She's the girl who will never leave your side when you need her, the girl who will go out of her way to cheer you up. She's the girl who never sleeps without her teddy bear by her side, she's the girl who says she isn't ticklish, but really is. She's the girl who will not give up on you if she really believes in you. She believes in loving somebody forever.

*Forgiveness does not always lead to a healed relationship. Some people are not capable of love, and it might be wise to let them go along with your anger. Just wish them well and take care of yourself.

*Be gracious beyond the call of duty. Give back more than you get and more comes back to you. Walk in the shoes of love, be a mighty warrior for love. Protect and defend your right to love. Use your powers for good. In this increasingly cynical world, love is a surprising revolutionary act! -Nancy

Words of Advice

1. Take your bananas apart when you get home from the grocery store. If you keep them connected at the stem they ripen faster.

4. To really make scrambled eggs or omlets rich, add a couple of spoonfuls of sour cream, cream cheese, or heavy cream and then beat them up.

5. Add garlic immediately to a recipe if you want a light taste of garlic, at the end of the recipe if you want a stronger taste of garlic.

6. Leftover snickers bars from Halloween make a delicious dessert. Simply chop them up with the food chopper. Peel, core and slice a few apples. Place them in a baking dish and sprinkle the chopped candy bars over the apples. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes. Serve alone or eat with vanilla ice cream.

7. Easy deviled eggs: put cooked egg yolks in a zip lock bag. Smash til they are all broken up. Add remainder of ingredients, reseal, keep mashing it up, mixing it thoroughly, cut the tip off the baggy, squeeze mitxture into egg.

8. Reheating refridgerated bread: To warm biscuits, pancakes, or muffins that were refridgerated, place them in a microwave with a cup of water. The increased moisture will keep the food moist and help it reheat faster.

9. Newspaper weeds away: Put your plants in the ground, work nutrients in your soil. Then wet newspapers, put layers around the plants overlapping as you go, cover with mulch, and forget about weeds. Weeds will get through some gardening plastic they will not get through wet newspapers.

10. Broken glass: use a wet cotton ball or q-tip to pick up the small shards of glass you can't see easily.

11. Flexible vacuum: To get something out of a heat register or under the fridge add an empty paper towel roll to your vacuum. It can be bent or flattened to get in narrow openings.

12. Pin a small safety pin to the seam of your slip to eliminate static cling. It works, you will not have a clingy dress or skirt. Same thing works with slacks that cling when wearing panty hose.

13. Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill with hot water. Dump out the hot water, but do not dry cup. Next, add your ingredient, such as peanut butter, and watch how easily it comes right out.

14. Re-opening envelopes: If you seal an envelope and then realize you forgot to include something inside, just place your sealed envelope inside the freezer for an hour or two.

15. Use your hair conditioner to shave your legs, its cheaper than shaving cream and leaves your legs really smooth.

16. Goodbye fruit flies: Take a small glass, fill it 1/2' with apple cider vinegar and 2 drops of dish washing liquid, mix well. The flies will be drawn to the cup, and gone forever.

17. Get rid of ants: Put small piles of cornmeals where you see ants. They eat it, take it home, and digest it so it kills them. May take a week or so but you dont have to worry about pets and small children being harmed.
